Cambridge Columbus
Sue and I are proud to announce the arrival in October 2008 of our first herdsire, Cambridge Columbus.
Columbus is a stunning looking light brown male with great presence. He was selected by EP Cambridge, the largest breeders of alpacas outside of Peru, as a potential herdsire. Bearing in mind the amount of animals involved that is a pretty tough selection process.
He is now here at Chicksgrove and will start working with the Patou herd in the Spring of 2009. He is, however, available for outside services immediately.

Columbus is a very stylish young male. He exhibits a heavy and correct frame that is well covered with fibre. He has excellent leg angulation, fluid movement and presents himself very well.
His fleece is equally spectacular as it is fine and very dense. The colour of the fleece is very uniform with a high frequency crimp running to the tip of every staple. The low guard hair levels and the brightness in the fleece of this male together with the excellent fineness gives the fleece stunning handle.
Cambridge Columbus is a very special male who will improve the most advanced coloured herd. Males that are this dense and this fine have shown to cut a heavy fleece weight of very fine fibre that stays fine.
If you are looking to introduce brown into your herd, Columbus is your man.
